STANLEY, NORTH CAROLINA
December 17, 1959 - January 9, 2022
Robert “Jay” Dodge, 62, passed away at home early morning Sunday, January 9th, 2022. Born in Shelby, MI to John Hiram Dodge and Roberta Kay Dodge (Eckert).
Jay spent most of his early life in Michigan, but moved to North Carolina in his late 20’s with his partner (now wife) Amy. He enjoyed spending time with his family, teaching his children necessities to life and after having grandchildren he spread the same love to them. Jay was a man of many talents; cooking, beautiful woodburning, dedicated to the construction industry and lending a helping hand to those in need are just a few on a long list. He was a man that knew how to weave a story that got better every time it was told, always had a joke to tell and his pranks only improved throughout his lifetime. His laughter, wit and antics will be dearly missed.
Jay is survived by his wife of 32 years Amy Joe Dodge (Dake); his daughter Tonya (Curtis) Zack of Twin Lake, MI; his four sons, Ryan of Stanley, NC, Jason (Jennifer) of Dallas, TX, Miles (Christelle) of Hockessin, DE; John (Chelsea) of Iron Station, NC; 8 grandchildren Erik, Connor, Erica, Ethan, Lana, Maddison, Wyatt, and Everleigh Joe; two brothers, John (Suzanne) Dodge and Chet (Carmen) Dodge; four sisters, Pamela (Doug) Craig, Johnnie Kay (Monte) Jansen, Hope (Rick) Binns, Terry (Dawn) Wright; and his beloved dog LeRoy. He was blessed in life with loving in-laws, many nieces and nephews that he held dear to his heart and a host of long-time friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Hiram Dodge, sister Susan Coles, and beloved dog Henry.
We are planning a celebration of Jay's Life, one in NC, and one in Michigan, dates to be announced at a later time.
