Patricia (Pat) Walls Callender Gordon of Mount Holly, formerly of Charlotte, passed away on April 11, 2021.  Pat was born in Hickory, NC on October 7, 1937 to Robert G. Walls and Elsie H. Walls.  She graduated from Valdese High School in 1955 and soon after began her career in banking at Northwestern Bank in Valdese.  During her career, she held positions as a bank teller, help desk representative, and systems testing coordinator.  She retired from Bank of America in Charlotte in 1999.

                Pat and her first husband, the late John Callender, were married from 1956 to 1978.  During that time, they lived in San Diego CA, Chattanooga TN, Charleston SC, and Atlanta GA before returning to North Carolina and settling in Charlotte where they raised their sons Dennis, Scott, and Bob.  In 1996, she married Henry Gordon and they remained together until his death in 2003.           

Pat loved to travel and some of her favorite trips were to Germany and England.  However, her first love was the beach where she enjoyed walking in the sand and collecting seashells.  She also loved returning to the NC Mountains that were a large part of her childhood memories.

                Pat was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her nephew Michael Smith and stepsons Rick Gordon and Tim Gordon.  She is survived by her sons Dennis Callender (wife Kathleen) of Sierra Vista, Arizona; Scott Callender (wife Leah) of Mount Holly, NC; Bob Callender (wife Tammi) of Indian Trail, NC; grandchildren Brentley, Madison, Nick, Glenden, Ian, Simon, Joelson, Lorraine; great-grandson Gideon; sisters-in-law Joyce Huffman (husband Gary) of Hickory and Emma Smith of Valdese, nephews Alex Brittain, Kevin Brittain (wife Caryn) and niece Shannon Smith.  She is also survived by one stepson Bobby Gordon, 4 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday April 17 from 3:00-3:30 at The Pointe Church at 6700 W. Wilkinson Blvd, Belmont, NC 28012 with a memorial service following.  A graveside service at Catawba Memorial Gardens in Hickory, NC will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gaston Hospice in Gastonia, NC.

The Callender family have entrusted arrangements to Boston's-Roseboro's Mortuary.
