Katie Elizabeth Smith was born January 26th, 1979 in Preston, England and passed away Saturday March 22nd, 2025, in Lake Wylie, South Carolina from a long battle with cancer. She was recently widowed by her late husband Derek Todd Smith and is survived by her son, Jonah William Capousis, daughter, Zella Elizabeth Sayer Capousis, brother, James William Brown and two dogs Zoie and Butch.

Katie moved to Charlotte, NC when she was eighteen months old with her parents Ken and Hilary Brown and grew up in the Charlotte community. Katie accomplished many things in life most recently writing a book along with holding certifications in phlebotomy, massage therapy & education. Katie always boasted that her greatest accomplishment was her two children and loved being a mother to them. Katie was an exuberant woman who touched many people with her ability to brighten a room. She had a kind, creative soul that emitted strength and courage during adversity. She loved art, nature, gardening, beaches and bellyflops. Katie's fun-loving spirt will live on in all our hearts.

Services for Katie we be held at St John's Episcopal Church in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, Mary 03, 2025. The time of the service will be announced at a later date.

The Smith Family have entrusted arrangements to Cremation Society of Charlotte.
