Huntersville, North Carolina
July 08, 1960 - January 18, 2023
On January 18, 2023, at her home in Huntersville, North Carolina, surrounded by her children, our beloved mother, grandma, and friend, Jenny Detwiler, took her last breath, having bravely fought metastatic breast cancer.
Born July 8, 1960 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the daughter of Nelson and Emma Jane Sitler, leaves behind her four children: Jonathan Detwiler and his wife Katie, Carolyn Honea and her husband Seth, Bryan Detwiler, and Stephen Detwiler and his wife Alyssa, as well as a brood of six cherished grandchildren: Wesley Honea, Savannah Honea, Eva Honea, Callia Honea, Olivia Detwiler, and Emma Detwiler. She is also survived by her mother and two brothers, Jeffrey Sitler and Gary Sitler, and their families.
After pouring all of herself into our family for 35 years, she returned to school and after completing her course of study, found fulfillment and friendship working first as a Certified Medical Assistant at a family practice and finally, at the Levine Cancer Institute where her personal experience battling cancer and genuine heart for others continued to shine.
Resilient and fiercely independent, she moved through life with a subtle grace grounded in an unwavering faith in God. She loved her family and her Savior above all else.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held at Good Shepherd Anglican Church (18745 W Catawba Ave,Cornelius NC 28031) on Saturday, February 4 at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Hope of Mooresville, PO Box 434, Mooresville, NC 28115, hopeofmooresville.com/donate.
The Detwiler Family have entrusted arrangements to Cremation Society of Charlotte.
