James Michael Twitty, 71, passed away Thursday, May 07, 2026 at home in West Charlotte.

Mike was a standout baseball and football player at Harding High School. Affectionately known years later as coach by many players.  He served our country in the 82nd airborne of the US Army. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janie H. Twitty, and his father, Bonner D. Twitty.

Mike is survived by his son Michael Twitty Jr. and wife Theresa; brother, Ron Twitty, and wife, Margaret, along with his nephew Brett; and his long time partner, Elizabeth Lyttle.

He will be laid to rest at Sharon Memorial Park at a later date.  In his honor please consider a donation to your local Little League Baseball organization.

The Twitty Family has entrusted arrangements to Cremation Society of Charlotte.
