Jake enjoyed travel, especially to the beach and taking cruises. Being outside was best and that included playing golf and walking Bingo. Jake loved dogs but had a special place in his heart for his "furry son". He has often been heard to say, "I have three sons, Cody, Clayton and my 'furry son' Bingo."
Jake loved Jesus and was active in church ministry, especially the Room at the Inn in downtown Charlotte and Rescue Mission work with Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. He often spoke with his father-in- law about going with him on a mission trip to Haiti. He also loved music, especially karaoke. But his favorite song was "You are My Sunshine" that he fondly remembered his grandmother singing to him.
