Eric Allen Smith

MOORESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA

May 24, 1969 - April 15, 2025.

Eric Allen Smith, 55 of Mooresville, NC passed away on April 15th, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. Eric was born in 1969 to Roy and Yohonna Smith in Nashville, TN. At an early age Eric knew he wanted to serve others and was involved with the civil air patrol of Hendersonville, TN. After graduating from Beech High School in 1988, he worked at the Tennessee Prison for Women. He then proudly served the citizens of Sumner County for the next 28 years. First, as a patrol officer for the cities of White House and Gallatin before joining the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office serving as a deputy, a field training officer and his final position a School Resource Officer at Knox Doss Middle School. Eric also was an EMT with Highpoint Health – Sumner.

In 2017 he began working for Associated Packaging, Inc before moving to Mooresville, NC in 2019 to work at their Statesville branch.

One of Eric’s biggest accomplishments was being a father. He was always there for his daughter Skyler encouraging and supporting her dreams.

Anyone who spent time with Eric knew that he loved telling jokes with his dry sense of humor. No matter the occasion, Eric had a joke or a funny one-liner to bring smiles to his family and friends. He lived life to its fullest and loved his family.

Eric was preceded in death by his father, Roy Allen Smith. He is survived by his loving daughter Skyler Smith; parents Yohonna (Frank) Rogers and Trish Smith; brothers Jeremy (Shannon) and Jason Smith both of Gallatin, TN; several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.

No funeral will be held however a celebration of life will be planned at a later time. The family will notify loved ones once a date is chosen.
