Carl Durant Misenheimer Jr., 62 passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
Carl Durant (Du) Misenheimer Jr, 62, of Charlotte, NC passed away on July 20, 2022, after a sudden and short illness.
Carl was born on October 2, 1959, to Carl and Florene Misenheimer in Concord, NC. After graduating from Concord High School in 1977, Du went on to study Materials Engineering specializing in Metallurgy at North Carolina State University. Post receiving his bachelor's degree in December 1982, he joined the Tennessee Valley Authority as an entry level engineer. Pursuing his interest in the energy field throughout his career until retiring in February 2018, Du also worked for Duke Power, Shaw Construction and Fluor Daniel, providing welding and piping specifications for coal, hydro, and nuclear power plants.
On June 16, 1984, Du wed his college sweetheart, Laura Elizabeth Papa, in Corning, NY. Du and Laura, who were happily married for 38 years, had three children, Corey, Christy, and Jenna Misenheimer. Although Du had always excelled at basketball, he earned his soccer license, allowing him to coach teams for all three of his children. Additionally, Du had many other passions including, but not limited to, NC State Wolfpack Sports especially football and basketball, vacations in Mexico, NC mountain wineries and antique stores, and music (The Eagles being his favorite).
Du was predeceased by his parents, Carl Durant Misenheimer Sr and Laura Florene Misenheimer. He is survived by his wife, Laura, his son and wife, Corey and Kathryn and his twin daughters, Christy and Jenna Misenheimer.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Du on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Firethorne Country Club in Marvin, NC at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to The V foundation for Cancer Research: https://www.v.org/ways-to-give/honor-memorial-gifts/ .
