Ben Wesley Luke

Ben Wesley Luke, age 76, residing in Charlotte, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2023.  He was born on October 16, 1946 in Douglas, Georgia to parents, John Benjamin Luke, Sr. and Kathleen McCranie.

He is survived by: his siblings, Barbara Ellen Robertson, Janice Wilson, and John Benjamin Luke Jr.; his children, David, Luke and Christina Luke; his five grandchildren, Ariel Luke, Kennedy Luke, Nolan Luke, Cameren Luke, and Calvin Bentley Shepard; his two great-grandchildren, Knox Futch and Calla Futch; his nieces & nephews, John & Auriel Robertson, Scott Robertson, Matthew & Manny Robertson, Jessica Robertson, Nan & Seth Wilkenfeld, Elizabeth & Andrew McGuire, and Brian & Allison Luke.

He was a high school graduate at East Atlanta High School, and college graduate at Georgia State University where he received his Bachelors degree.  He was also a college graduate at Woodrow Wilson College of Law in Atlanta, Georgia, where he received his Masters degree.  He was a member of the TKE Fraternity at Georgia State University.  He served in the Army for   6 years. 

He loved sports, with Georgia Tech and Atlanta Braves being his favorite teams.  He loved to watch Star Trek, NCIS, Law & Order and Tombstone.  He loved telling jokes, never met a stranger, and he loved his children, grandchildren, including his for fur-grandchildren doggies, (Grits and Pepper) and great grandchildren with all his might.

His home-going service will be held at independence Hill Baptist Church, 10220 Independence Hill Road, Huntersville, North Carolina 28078 on Saturday, September 9th at 11 am.  According to his wishes, his ashes will be spread at the Luke Family Farm in Douglas, GA.

Flowers can be sent to Independence Hill Baptist Church directly or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dementia Society of America at dementiasociety.org or can be made to Independence Hill Baptist Church.

Thank you to everyone for lifting us up in prayer during this difficult time.  He did it his way and will be missed greatly.
