Ann "Ande" Denise Sylvester, 52, Charlotte, NC passed away June 20, 2026.

Ann devoted more than 33 years to Bank of America, where she built a distinguished career in anti-money laundering (AML) security and compliance. A natural leader and tireless encourager, Ande served as a dedicated mentor and former president of the Tri It For Life triathlon club. Ann was an avid swimmer from her earliest swim lessons at Grandma and Grandpa K's house, to playing with cousins in Grandpa S's pond, to the "grab-its" and tubing at the Pomme de Terre Lake, and the being on the swim team at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, she loved to be in or near the water. She took tremendous pride in guiding those who had never been comfortable in the water, patiently teaching them to swim with confidence and skill — a gift that stayed with her students long after their time together.  An avid traveler and cruise enthusiast, she was happiest when surrounded by clear blue seas.

Her compassion extended to the animal world as well. As a devoted pet parent, Ann volunteered her time and opened her home to numerous greyhounds and Irish wolfhounds, giving these gentle giants the love and security they deserved. She cheered fiercely for her Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas University Jayhawks basketball — a passion matched only by her love for Taylor Swift's music.

Born December 15, 1973, in Olathe, Kansas, Ann is survived by her parents Harvey and Marianne, her sister, Karen, of Olathe, Kansas, and wolfhounds, Fiona and Maverick. Proceeded in death by paternal grandparents, Harvey and Ilene Sylvester and Virgina Sylvester and maternal grandparents, Ralph and Rosemary Kurtenbach.  

Memorial services to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ann's memory to one of her cherished causes: American Kidney Foundation or Irish Wolfhound Association of the Mid South. 

The Sylvester Family has entrusted arrangements to Cremation Society of Charlotte.
