Vicky Jo Rowland, 62, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.

Vicky Jo Rowland was born on September 7, 1956, to the union of Scottie and Vera Rowland in Des Moines, Iowa.

Vicky was a Christian and would often attend Nikao Church with her daughter. 

Vicky was known for her outgoing and comical personality.  She was always the bright star that stood out in a crowd.  Her children would often refer to her as the female version of Bernie Mack.  She was kindhearted and giving.  She had a smile that would sparkle, a personality that would capture your heart, and a heart of gold.

Vicky was like a diamond, precious and rare.  She loved her children and her grandchildren unconditionally.  She was known for making sure she gave you a happy birthday greeting on your special day.  This included not only her children, but her grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, etc.  She wanted to make sure no one was left out. 

During her illness, Vicky remained positive and upbeat. She never faltered.  She remained steadfast and courageous regardless of the outcome.  

Vicky Jo Rowland departed this life on February 13, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, James Antohny Murray; brothers, Scottie John Rowland, Jr, and Thomas Rowland; and sister, Charlotte Robinson.

She leaves to cherish her life, love, and memory, her daughter, Royca Rowland and LaShay Hill (Duane); grandson, DeAndre Easterling; great-grandchildren, Makhi Taylor and Isiah Easterling; sisters, Ollie Harper, Marjorie Goolsby and Emma Rowland; brother, Rudy Rowland, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ms. Rowland will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Boston's Mortuary 4300 Statesville Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28269.
