Simpson Alexander Banks

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA

October 25, 1933 - November 6, 2017

Simpson Alexander Banks, AKA Uncle Son and Paw Paw by his family, fell asleep in death Monday November 6, 2017. He was born in York Co SC, October 25, 1933 to the late Thomas and Maggie Ashford Banks. He was the youngest of 12 children born to this union. He attended public school in York County SC and Emmet Scott in Rock Hill, SC.

On April 10, 1955, he married Ida Durham of Rock Hill SC. From this union were two sons, Jimmie A and Simpson G (Adele).  There is also two daughters, Jacqueline C (Daniel Chavis) and Gwendolyn B (Paul A. Ridley).

His secular career really started with Stylecraft Packing Co. From there he went on to Pelton&Crane, where he retired in 1996. Those 40 years of hard work allowed him to care for his family physically and spiritually.

He became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in November 1957 and was attending the meetings with the Southwest English Congregation here in Charlotte. He loved engaging in the public preaching work, which allowed him to share in Bible discussions with his neighbors.

The Memorial service for Mr. Banks will be held at 3:30 P.M. Saturday November 11, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 6516 Old Pineville Road, Charlotte NC 28217.
