Mark Wilson Clark

Monroe – Mark Wilson Clark, 57, of Monroe, NC, passed away after suffering from a cardiac arrest on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Pruitt Health Union Pointe in Monroe, NC.  He was born in Charlotte on September 26,1961 to the late Frank and Elizabeth Clark. Mark was a 1979 graduate of West Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte. He was a postal worker for 30 years, most recently at the Mint Hill, NC station. Mark played baseball with Wilson Junior High School, West Mecklenburg High School, and the Western Mecklenburg Optimist Club little league and pony league teams all of Charlotte. He also played baseball with Saint Mark’s Methodist Church in Belmont, and softball with Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. Mark played football with the Western Mecklenburg Optimist Club and Wilson Junior High School.  He was a devoted Boston Red Sox and Charlotte Knights supporter.  Mark was a fan of anything related to The Andy Griffith Show and was thrilled to meet Don Knotts when he was in Charlotte performing in the play Last of the Red Hot Lovers.

 

Survivors include wife Merrilee Idol of Winston-Salem, NC; sister, Reba Hardaway (Doug) of Charlotte; two nieces, Elizabeth Hardaway of Mount Airy, NC, and Allison Hardaway Sigmon (John) of Winston-Salem, NC; aunts Dora Cox, Dianne Butler, Joyce McCrea and Carolyn Ross; many beloved cousins; and best friend Chet Foy (Lisa).  The family will receive friends Saturday, April 13, from 1:00pm until 1:45pm in the Fellowship Hall at Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church, 2324 Sam Wilson Road, Charlotte, NC 28214.  A service to celebrate Mark’s life will follow at 2:00 PM in the Sanctuary.
