Bryan Goss Obituary

April 22, 1969 ~ July 9, 2019

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Bryan Allen Goss, age 50, fell into the arms of Jesus on July, 9, 2019. He was the second child born to his father, Duane N. Goss, and his late mother, Kathleen M. (Wendt) Goss, on April 22, 1969, in Niagara Falls, NY. He was predeceased in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Ruth (Belling) Wendt, John Goss, and Francis Goss Brooks.

Bryan grew up in Sanborn, NY, and attended Niagara Wheatfield High School and Niagara County Community College. While still a New York guy at heart, who passionately loved his Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, Bryan transferred his allegiance to Charlotte, North Carolina. Bryan was formally married to Doreen (Dzialak) Shewmaker and together they shared in the joy of their daughter, Ella Shay Goss. Bryan lived every day for his precious Ella. Bryan was later remarried to Karen (Fox) Goss.

Bryan proudly worked in the field of mechanical engineering until he suffered a stroke from a previous hockey injury. After that, Bryan worked hard in his rehabilitation and regained his mobility and most of his speech. When Bryan walked into a room, his presence would just light up everyone’s spirit. He was so full of optimism and overcame one obstacle after another. His heart was so full of love, kindness, and joy always.

Bryan is survived by his daughter, Ella Shay Goss, Kalamazoo, MI; his father, Duane N. Goss, Akron, NY; his sister, Melanie (Dan) Melvin, Fruitland Park, FL; his brother, Dennis (Julie) Goss, Cornelius, NC; and his nephews Devin Melvin, Nathan Melvin, and Brocton Goss along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. Bryan also leaves behind an abundance of lifelong friends he has known since childhood, high school, several coworkers and made deep, enduring and lasting friendships along the way. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed playing hockey, golf, camping, hiking, hunting at camp, and most of all, the passions he gained from his mother of cooking, gardening, and landscaping.

We will celebrate Bryan’s life at Elevation Church Lake Norman, in Cornelius, NC on Wednesday, July 31, at 6 pm. The family will also hold a memorial service on Saturday, August 3, at 9 am at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Sanborn, NY, with a “Celebration of Life” picnic at Ron and Lynnette Sessman’s home afterwards.

The family requests that you consider honoring the memory of Bryan by making a memorial gift for stroke research, advocacy and support programs to the American Heart Association.

In closing, the family asks that you love deeply, assist others without being asked, spend quality time with your children and grandchildren, take a hike in the woods, cheer on your favorite sports team, and make a toast to enduring friendships, lifelong and beyond. That is what Bryan would wish for us all.

The Goss family have entrusted arrangements to Cremation Society of Charlotte.
