CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA

July 23, 1958 ~ March 13, 2019

Brad S. Smith, 60, born in Lynn, and a former resident of Swampscott, MA, passed away unexpectedly on (March 13, 2019) at his home in Charlotte, NC. Brad was the beloved son of the late Frederick and Brenda (stepmother)Smith of Ocala, FL and the late Catherine C. Smith of Swampscott, MA. Brad was the dear brother of Cathy J. Smith of Woodbury, MN, Fred Scott Smith of Charlotte, NC, Jeff Smith and his wife Mary of Virginia Beach, VA and Kerin Hughes and her husband Bill of Charlotte, NC; the adored uncle of Cassie White of St. Paul, MN, Ben and Alex Smith of Virginia Beach, VA, Nathan and Emily Hughes of Charlotte, NC and great uncle to Hadley and Tobin White of St. Paul, MN. He had many cousins.

Brad graduated from Swampscott High School in 1976 where he played varsity football for The Big Blue and graduated in 1980 from St. Michael’s College in Colchester, VT, with a degree in Economics.

His career included working as a professional actuary and he was successful in the insurance, banking and investment fields.Most recently he was employed as an insurance specialist at TIAA in NC. Brad was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. He was known by all as a kind, loving and generous man with a great sense of humor. He is loved and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

A private memorial service will be set at a later time.
